Sometimes as a military family member you just HAVE to bite your tongue. Come check out the board and find out what kinds of things we have to hear from people and share your own story.
All I have to say is, "Freedom of Speech" and "We serve so you have that right".

So it is back to school time here and this year, I have 2 freshman. One in college and one in high school. What a weird feeling this is. My daughter is going to University of South Carolina-Sumter and in two years will (hopefully) be transferring to the main campus. She told me today that she is very excited about classes starting next week. She has her books and has already been getting (via university email) emails from her professors.
My son has been involved with football all summer and has his first JV game the same day school starts (8/23) so we're a little anxious. As my dh said "I've been waiting 14 years to go see my son play high school football". Last year, when my son played 8th grade football, dad missed the whole season due to being in Iraq. He had to settle for pictures and my synopsis, which wasn't always the most accurate.
I'm excited for school to start. Always optimistic. I hope this is the year that my son decides it is time to buckle down and be a good student and I hope neither of them get discouraged.

Have a member getting ready to fly with her 6 month old and she is looking for tips on making the journey. It's been ages since I've flown with a baby, but I did have a response already and I don't think she left anything out. Although it would be great to get more responses, especially from some of the parenting boards, so I will have to post a request in various places.

Okay so have you seen the new series "Army Wives"? I just started a thread over on my board asking people what they thought of it. I would love to see input from others, so feel free to pop on over and put your 2cents in. Hey, your nickels worth would be nice too. ;)

Wow, okay so it's been AGES since I have written in here. Let's see...what have I been up to?
Graduation did consume much of our time. I did upload pictures after the event, but just realized I never blogged about it here, so probably no one knew I had them up. Hard to believe my baby girl is out of high school. She'll be starting college at the University of South Carolina Sumter Campus. Thanks to the Palmetto Life Scholarship (which she didn't even have to apply for), she will get $5000 to help with the costs which is good because she did not get any other scholarship funds. Thanks to the lottery these funds are available to all SC students based on their GPA; ranking in class and SAT score. Had she scored higher, she could have gotten $10000. If she keeps her grades up, she'll continue to be eligible for the money.
Work is busy. I have moved away from the checkout desk and am right behind it doing Medical Records/Referrals. Its a very busy job but I really like it.
My Avon business is going well too. Not selling as much as I'd like, but its not my full time job so it's fine.
Working in a diabetes clinic, you see a lot and its really time for me to take action when it comes to my weight and health. I have all the equipment I would need already in my house, I am just lazy. I need to work harder.
My board is still slow, but I've had some interesting posts lately. Advice on Marriage by Proxy; coping with a son in Iraq (mom is worrying herself to death) and then an old board member from back in the day when Caryn was the CL came by and said hello. Cool beans.
