And another celebrity near miss...

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008, 12:11 pm

Below is a photo of Hillary Rodham Clinton from her high school days as an alternate on her school's "It's Academic" team, the founder of which died recently. Note the guy 2nd from the left in the front row. That's my husband's best friend, Steve, who was on the team and the show.

THEY CAN'T DO THAT TO ME!!!!!

Monday, May 19th, 2008, 1:08 pm

I walked 2.5 miles today, planned and mapped carefully so as to take me past Taco Bell for my boss's lunch and Subway for mine.

SUBWAY WAS CLOSED for remodeling. Drat it!

I had to deliver my boss's lunch and then trot over to the bagel shop for my sandwich. More calories, not as good for me, but at least I got lunch. The only other quick option was McDonalds. Yeah, I could've gotten a salad there, but then I would have had to carry that back 1/2 mile in my hands to keep it from spilling. AND I would have wasted another plastic bag.

For Want of a Zero...

Monday, May 19th, 2008, 9:47 am

I thought we were broke. Not seriously broke, but I really didn't think we should have bought that MacBook for me with the economic stimulus check (though I do like it. REALLY LIKE IT!)

Then in balancing the accounts yesterday, I realized that 1) I forgot to add in our state tax refund (oops!) and 2) I entered our stimulus check at $120 vice $1200. DOUBLE OOPS!

Needless to say, I don't feel so bad about having to buy my lunch today instead of brown bagging it.

15 points!

Thursday, May 15th, 2008, 7:13 pm

Ok, I'm being a little silly about this, but I wanted to share in on something I do when I go for my lunchtime walks.

I scan the sidewalks for discarded Coke products. I take the lids for the points; I remove the bottles from being litter. That way I'm profiting a little off being a responsible citizen, ya?

So far this week, I've picked up 5 bottles for a total of 15 points AND walked 8.5 miles to boot.

iVillage Voices

Friday, May 9th, 2008, 12:52 pm

We don't always get to meet the folks we meet here in real life. There are so many folks from my Feminism Today board who I only know through their posts, occasional emails, and their posted photos.

But last night I was able to meet a couple, in particular CMCaryn and Lauren Sue Masoero. iVillage held a little reception at Herrington on the Bay's Historic Yacht Club (http://www.herringtononthebay.com/main.htm) to premier Lauren Sue's iVillage Voices video. Please click below to view her video and the others whom iVillage has featured.

Her story is truely inspirational, and it was great to see how much her community supports her.
