    Costume Condundrums...

    Wednesday, October 8th, 2008, 1:25 pm

Last Halloween I had a lapse of what time of year it was and found my self ON halloween day with 2 kids and no costumes! EEK How did I manage that?   What will the kids dress up as I wondered as I tore through the house searching for anything...I didn't want my kids to be "ghosts" made from pink sheets. I found a piglet costume for my youngest pretty quickly (we had had it for awhile and it thankfully still fit!) but what would I do for my oldest dd?

After about 45 minutes of searching and wondering if I could convince them it wasn't Halloween afterall I saw it... the last minute brilliant costume. I sat in my daughters' closet and stared at this white dress, a super fancy, frilled to the nines white dress that someone had given to me that I knew I'd never use but took anyway (her daughter wore it to a wedding) and I had it!  a Runaway Bride. I put J in the dress, Styled her hair, dabbed on some glitter and a little lipgloss and completed the look with running shoes. It was brilliant and totally not last minute looking.

People RAVED about her costume that night when we trick or treated at the mall. She loved the costume and proudly proclaimed to everyone that she was a runaway bride. I got a slew of compliments for my brilliance (I work well under pressure!)

I learned from last year though and bought costumes the first weekend of October and got everything I needed for them. Although I didn't do too badly last year. ;-)

If you're finding yourself in a similar what to do for Halloween situation, check out the Last Minute Costumes article here on iVillage hopefully it will inspire you.
