Eavesdropping in the supermarket check out lane...

    Friday, May 16th, 2008, 3:07 pm

I just got back from the supermarket, buying some dog food for my furbabies. As I was leaving, the older lady behind me, who apparently knew the also older checker, initiated some conversation. It went a little like this:

"So are you making money for the corporation today?"

    "Not for me."

"Yeah, well we all know it all goes to the people at the top anyway."

Now, I know its almost un-American not to hate big corporations, but why is it no one hates Oprah? Harpo Productions is a huge corporation, and Oprah Winfrey is a very, very wealthy woman. Good for her! She strayed out of her comfort zone, and took risks. You don't make big money any other way. Yet most people are unwilling to take risks. They would rather stay at a job they hate than step out of their comfort zone. No one ever told this woman she had to work as a supermarket check out clerk. There are so many opportunities out there, I'm checking out one of them myself.

I also hope that most people realize millionaires work 24/7. And they take risks.  We all have to take personal responsibility at some point in our lives.  Okay, rant over.

Hi there, how are you doing?

Oh I am so glad to see you're still around here, Marie! I thought all my friends had diappeared, with the account problems and all that stuff. It is true, however, that this new version requires some time to adjust to but I'm trying to figure it out. Are you back to the workforce?
