We don't always get to meet the folks we meet here in real life. There are so many folks from my Feminism Today board who I only know through their posts, occasional emails, and their posted photos.

But last night I was able to meet a couple, in particular CMCaryn and Lauren Sue Masoero. iVillage held a little reception at Herrington on the Bay's Historic Yacht Club (http://www.herringtononthebay.com/main.htm) to premier Lauren Sue's iVillage Voices video. Her story is truely inspirational, and it was great to see how much her community supports her.

As the Director of Community here at iVillage, I know first-hand just how powerful the experience of finding 24/7 support, advice, friendship and women like you can be. We see examples of this each and every day on our message boards. Whether it's a first-time mom finding advice on getting her child to sleep through the night or a woman facing a new diagnosis of breast cancer, the experience and compassion of the iVillage community is often the support network that women turn to. I've long been awestruck and proud of the connections that are made in our community and this is why I'm so excited we're bringing these stories into the spotlight with our Voices from the Village project. We've selected six women around the boards who have graciously offered to star in their own short videos to tell us their stories. Be sure to view these videos and I think you will agree that they are not only heartwarming, but inspiring as well.

Tonight I'm honored to be able to attend a local event for one of our long-time members and community leaders, Lauren Sue (aka cl-lsb210).  Lauren Sue's an amazing woman with an amazing story and I'm very much looking forward to sharing her story with her friends, family and community -- not to mention meeting her in person.

I sure do -- I'm ready for this spring to warm up a bit and in the spirit of renewal and change, I think I need a new look. Lucky for me I can try on new looks without committing to a whole new hairstyle just yet with the Makeover O Matic tool. We've just added several new makeup choices and hairstyles, so be sure to take it for a spin.

Well, we're only four days into the month and we've already had some AMAZING things happen over at Sittercity.

 

March 1: iVillage Quiz - Is your babysitter organized enough? 

In accordance with iVillage's March theme of "Get Organized!" Genevieve created a quiz for all the iVillage moms out there to help them determine if a potential babysitter is organized enough for the job. This quiz reveals the subtle signs and nonverbal cues that tell whether or not your potential sitter is one you should actually hire!

March 3: Sittercity appears on the Today Show (again!) 

As the iVillage Babysitting Expert and, of course, the founder/CEO of Sittercity.com, Genevieve spoke with Today's Natalie Morales about how to hire a babysitter. She discussed three recent trends in babysitting, gave a timeline for hiring and explain a quick and simple screening process that will help make sure you hire a great sitter.
