I'm back home after my operation and things aren't looking quite so grim at the moment.
True I've had an e-mail from my manager advising that peripatetic status is being removed from me (and the whole team) with the upshot being my company car is being taken away, my expense account removed and I am to work at an office an hours travelling distance away getting there in my own time and at my own expense (means about a cost of £250 per month) so that's making me very anxious and worried. Yet another nail in teh coffin of me ever feeling like I am actually going to be able to do that job again ever. But my leg is on the mend so that's something.
I imagine my reflief is that I have finally got my leg sorted after it has been bothering me for some time and managing to get the insurance company to pay for me to go private was reasonably easy. I guess private medical insurance is something I am really going to miss when I leave this job which is almost inevitable now. I am surprised to hear from my GP that removal of varicose veins is now not even available on the NHS.
I am not in too much physical pain but am intensely disliking the deeply unattractive anti-embolism stockings that I have to wear (bizarrely on both legs) for 2 weeks and I'm not allowed to run for at least that long either. I have been relatively pampered in hospital for the last 36 hours and TBH could have done with staying in a bit longer with no worries or responsibilities, but with such a minor op, even under GA, it's an overnight stay only these days.
