At least not in my world. As I sit here I have an entire list of untouched, unattainable things that need to be done today. I have books on hold at the library in one town, shoes on hold in another town, a package to be mailed, and a flip flop clinic to get my daughter to. I have son that has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and an infant with colic. I have a laundry pile the size of Mt. Everest and three beds that are not made, a fishbowl that needs to be scrubbed, closets that need to be organized and a basement that needs to be cleaned. Did I mention that I am taking courses to be able to work from home? On top of it all, I am starving but can't eat anything because I am trying to look like superwoman...minus the tights. I lost 4 pounds last week! 20 to go!
Now people ask me on occasion what my hobbies are and I so politely reply that if I had free time to do them I would have an answer to that. It's not that I don't wish for or even plan for hobbies, however the hundreds of dollars of scrapbooking materials sits alone, untouched in my basement waiting for that free time to come. Funny how in 6 years I haven't found enough free time to start any of it. I have great ideas though!
I was also asked to be on the PTO committee at my kids' school. How does Superwomen do it? It's not that I can't do anything it's just so much! I have to admit slight jelousy for the moms who are in workout wear and they look good! Not like me. They look like they came from the gym yet their hair looks great not to mention that they don't look like they need to go to the gym. I, on the other hand, look like a gigantic sweatball in too tight pants when I jump out of the car and make a mad dash for my children while hoping nobody sees me in my condition. Stop by their house and it's clean. All their permission slips are turned in on time and they are never yelling at their kids. Where was I when this superwoman class was being held? I like to think that I am not the only woman out there who has issues with doing it all and deciding what to choose as most importnt for the day. Hopefully Superwoman won't stop by until laundry makes that list. So for now I will hold my crying infant (she doesn't like slings or swings, backpacks or bouncy seats), try to make sure that my son is making good choices, and watch my daughter do flip flops across the gym. I may get to that UPS store. I know others can relate.
I will keep you posted on my quest to get nearer to the dream!
