It's about time I blogged something other than my woes, not least of which becasue the technical glitch which has been plaguing connect seems to have been sorted out and people can now read my blogs again (even though I can't read theirs).
So what happened yesterday? Well, set painting for my local amateur dramatic group for one thing (or set dressing as it's known in the biz! lol!). We had to create a set wich looked like it had been in a fire 1 year ago and not rennovated since, so lots of black paint lots of dribbling artistic effects (where the water from the firefighting had ruined everything) and lots of falling, dribbling artex all running down the walls.
3 of us (the stage manager, director and me) spent 4 hours decorating the walls, then "distressing" it all to make it seem realistic. I was really pleased with the result. It's good to let your creative side have an airing every now and again. It was also nice to feel like there was something I wasn't useless at after my disasterous attempt to return to work. I can see this group being good for my self-confidence even if I never get the courage to go up on stage.
In other news, my leg is recovering. I removed all the steri-strips yesterday which is what you get these days instead of stitches. I counted 35 separate incisions, but they are all teeny tiny (1-2mm long and the width of a hair) so won't leave a scar. It's still hurting a bit, so I'm still on 24hr painkillers, but the good news is that I can have a shower today for the first time in 6 days, now I don't have the dressings. Also I can stop wearing the anti-embolism stickings at night after tonight, which will help me to sleep.
